What is COMPEX ?

COMPEX is the scholarship scheme provided by Embassy of India for Nepali students for undergraduate study in Indian Colleges. COMPEX covers all the fee as well as provides stipend for the Nepalese students.

What courses are available on COMPEX ?

You can apply to a wide range of courses and colleges through compex scholarship. But, mostly you see people applying for Engineering Colleges as Engineering in India might be somehow better than in Nepal. Not only that your entire fee is covered by the Edcil itself and also provides some stipend amount thus many Nepalese students want to go to India for higher studies through this COMPEX scholarship itself.

These are some of the courses you can apply through and it's eligibility criteria.

How is the Exam and selection process ?

Selection will be based on a qualifying /competitive Computer Based Test (CBT)/ Examination conducted by the Embassy of India. The question pattern  and question level will be similar as that of IoE examinations. You can check more information here.

How much stipend do I get as a COMPEX student ?

Stipend amount for COMPEX students has always become the concerning query among compex students. The stipend amount provided by the Embassy of India or let's say Edcil might vary from year to year.

You may get around 6k-7k IC , monthly as stipend amount under this scheme. However, you will receive the payment on yearly basis only.

Once , you make the Bank Account on any of the Indian Banks and submit all the necessary documents the concerned authority will deposit the stipend amount on your respective bank. And the college fee is paid directly on the college's account you need not worry about that.

What are some really good colleges for Engineering in India under COMPEX ?

COMPEX scholarship doesn't provide scholarship or stipend for the Government owned colleges of India. But, there are many private institutes on India that provides quality education.
You can apply for colleges like VIT , Thappar , BMS , SRM , KIIT (for engineering). There might be other colleges for different branch which I am unaware of.  Don't worry,  you can  check NIRF RANKING on google of universities of India and apply accordingly.

I heard people who have sources only get this scholarship is it true ?

Never run after the rumours . Losers create excuses. There are lot of students (almost all) who got enrolled in prestigious university of India through COMPEX through totally fair competetion. Don't trust the fake consultancies that create such rumours . Believe in yourself, give your exam and hope for the result. Some minor cases might be there where people might have gone through any sort of techniques. However, that is risky , unfair and highly NOT RECOMMENDED. Don't listen to such things neither promote them . If found, raise your voices .

Is the compex scholarship stipend for mess fees ?

Compex scholarship covers your hostel charges but not the mess (canteen/ place where you eat food). You an use your stipend amount to pay the mess fees. However, in some expensive colleges like Vellore Institute of Technology the stipend amount provided by compex scholarship isn't sufficient to pay the mess fees. You ight have to add some sum from your own pocket, or proly your dad's.

Can I change my college after getting COMPEX scholarship ?

You might have got chance to keep 4 colleges as priority while filling up that form. Surely, you will be alloted among that only, in most cases it is always the one you filled up at first. But, incase if you did some mistake in filling and now you want to rectify the mistake and request the Embassy to change the college maybe your request might not be heard or ignored. however, try and try until you die ! Who knows there might have some vacant seats on college you want to change and luckily you might get so try that possibility too. Don't worry they won't cancel your scholarship for that request.

I was already enrolled in an Indian College, afterwards I gave COMPEX exam and got Scholarship, will the University agree?

Most probably the University agrees to the Scholarship. As long as they are getting paid I don't think they care about the sources. However, it might depend within the universitie's policy. In my College VIT, Vellore few friends had done that and University was Completely okay with it. It even refunded whatever they had paid earlier.

Anyways, my suggestion would be wait for COMPEX results and get enrolled in the university of your choice, because trust me Unis are pretty expensive in India and might have hidden fees too, so RISKS are never worth it.

How do I prepare for COMPEX exam ?

COMPEX exam is quite similar to IoE exam. Trust me, questions are comparatively easier than that of IoE (chemistry might be an exception). Read the formulas well . Practice the old questions that is available at PEA's MCQ set vol 8, 9,10. Also E-pcm by Er. Bijay Puri is recommended.
